Week 7: Mass Wasting Saudi Arabia

If I may draw your attention to the map the my left you see that there is no legend for the map of Saudi Arabia. Well no worries on the Think Hazard website in describing the susceptibility of a country to landslides. Saudi Arabia has a medium hazard and if you look to the right it is located nearer to the red sea because Saudi Arabia on that side as we learned about volcanoes on week 5 is fairly mountainous and the city of Abha has the highest susceptibility of having a landslide because it is surrounded by slopes on multiple sides.

Recently in July 22nd there was a landslide that occurred in the Jazan Region of Saudi Arabia. So located in the southwest of Saudi Arabia neighboring Yemen is where landslides are more common in Saudi Arabia, they cover streets and roads but thankfully no major cities have been hit as of recently and the video evidence has shown that some people tend to narrowly escape these hazards.
